NHL Breakaway / Alex Ovechkin

I was tasked with creating a unique digital collectible for commemorating Alex Ovechkin. For context, he passed Wayne Gretzky for most goals scored in NHL history. I was tasked with creating/animating the elements that would make this extra special. It produced under a tight deadline tied to the record-breaking moment.
This is also the first ever 1-of-1 mythic highlight on NHL Breakaway. This ended up being auctioned off for over $7500.
As part of the NHL Breakaway project, this work stands out as one of my proudest achievements, showcasing not only my technical skills in After Effects and animation design, but also my ability to translate a cultural sports moment into a lasting digital artifact.

Now I Am Known Foundation
The Intent:
This video has been posted and reposted, with the most recent uploads generating over 4 million views on Instagram alone. This client, who runs the Now I Am Known Foundation, allowed me to have creative control over content on his account during my time with him.
He has nearly 1 million followers on Instagram, 388k followers on YouTube, and 495k followers on TikTok.
This is one of several videos that I created that are light hearted and meant to help create connection with others. I created the concept, shot and edited the videos, and helped him to come up with captions for his content.

For this Chicagoland attorney, I helped get his podcast started on YouTube by editing his first several episodes. Included below is a link to one of the many full length episodes that I edited.
I also edited long and short form content for his main Youtube channel. 13 of his 15 most watched reels are the ones that I edited.
Greece trip recap
Skills: Long-form video editing, raw footage organization, narrative structuring
For this client, I edited her raw footage from her trip to Greece.
Primarily shot on an iPhone, I was able to take the footage and create a nearly 20minute recap in chronological order highlighting the interesting aspects of the trip.
Though this creator has a small following, this particular video was able to generate nearly 4k plays on YouTube. Considering the small following, I am proud of being able to contribute to this successful project.

I created a NBA playoff promo that felt authentic to the actual experience of watching postseason basketball.

Feeling hopeful can be such a cycle.
Do you ever notice that some seasons it is a little easier to feel hopeful than other seasons?
There are many reasons why we may even tend to lean toward cynicism. Those reasons may include unmet expectations, hurt, the state of the country/world, having to wrestle with disappointment… and on and on.
On the flip side, there are reasons to keep going, and to keep putting that best foot forward. The people I look up to? It’s those that keep believing the best in themselves and in others. No matter what.

My first love happened to be writing. Admittedly, I was never someone that wanted to post with any sort of regularity on LinkedIn. In the age of social media, my first outlet was blogging. Anyone out there remember Xanga?
Here’s the deal though, sometimes we have to put our (best) foot down on a platform and be unafraid to take up space and to move against the grain of what is typically consumed on this and other platforms.
As I’ve grown professionally as a video editor and motion designer, I have been convinced that the next step for me creatively is to fuse together my love of writing and the joy I get out of creating content that can resonate with other people.
I first wrote this caption well over a year ago and made a graphic design based on it, too. I loved getting to tackle this again, but this time with the intention of creating a motion design, instead of a static graphic.

Do you ever find yourself in a situation in your career and wonder "what is the point of this?"
Maybe you find yourself wondering if what you’re devoting yourself to is really worth it in the grand scheme of your professional life.
None of us have been or will ever be immune to setbacks. And sometimes things that feel like a setback can start to make us question whether the time, effort and energy are worth it.
Those periods of life that feel like a question mark may ultimately help us develop either our soft skills, our hard skills, or both.
Perspective is a tough thing to attain in the moment.
But with the benefit of time and distance, I hope that in the course of our journeys we see certain opportunities, challenges, and even mundane moments as being worth it. All of these can develop not only our skills, but also our character.
Confidence is often forged in the moments that test us.
Compassion isn’t built in the moments of calm.
To become great at something usually requires a point of tension.
